Remote Backcountry Lake Trout Fishing

Just a 5 minute drive from Cozy Camp is Cecil Lake, for some outstanding Lake Trout fishing. They are common in the 3 to 8-pound range. Throughout the summer, Lakers around the 15-pound mark are caught and released with the occasional 20-pounder being caught. On an average day, a Lake Trout hunter can catch between 10 and 20 Lake Trout, which by trout catching standards, is considered extremely good.

If you have never caught a Lake Trout but always wanted to, here is your chance. In the spring these feisty fish can be caught in shallow bays in 5' of water. As summer progresses & the water temperatures rise they will gradually move into deeper water. Because there are only two 80' foot holes in Cecil Lake, they are very easy to locate & a blast to bring up from these depths.
